FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

Montana folks are friendly and laid back. It's tough to make a living in this part of the country, and it would be impossible without the help of friends and neighbors. Here are some of ours.

Loni is a good hand, and she helps us a lot when we gather for branding and shipping. She works hard, but she can always find time for her Diet Pepsi breaks!

This is the branding crew, that's Joe on the crutches, his mare swapped ends on some icy ground the week before, and Joe ended up in a cast for six weeks! These guys oughta be working, but they'd rather shoot the breeze. That's Grant on the horse.

C.J.'s fixin' to fill his lip with snoose! Copenhagen is his brand.

All those hours of practicing his roping paid off: Donny gets to stay up out of the dirt on branding days!

Making geldings out of studs isn't fun work, (especially for the horses) but it's part of ranch life. Nels and Joe do a lot of gelding for the neighbors, that's Grandpa Paul holding the horse's head!

Butchering chickens with the Lenington bunch! It's hard, hot, messy work, but there's nothing like home-grown chicken!

Jess never has a lot to say, he just sits up there keeping his rope tight till it's time to catch another calf.
